Electrical Supervisor

We are currently looking for a number of full-time permanent Electrical Supervisor’s which will be based on our project in Dundalk.

Main Objectives and Duties

  • Support the Project Manager on an ongoing basis ensuring the delivery of the highest quality projects.
  • Assist the Project Manager in the development of the Project Programme.
  • Maintain standards of safety, ensuring all company and legislative requirement are met and all employees are following safe working procedures.
  • Ensure site set up is as per Regulations.
  • Integrating process change and estimating of works.
  • Track Progress against Programme and monitor productivity, ensuring the work meets contract requirements.
  • Allocate daily tasks/work to all Foreman/Charge Hands via Tiered meetings and from Project Schedule.
  • Assess the site work completed according to the job requirements.
  • Assist with the coordination of work from all disciplines as dictated by the project needs.
  • Ensure weekly report programmes/reports are submitted in a timely and accurate fashion to the Client.
  • Hold daily team update/progress meetings via the Suir Way Tiered Management system.
  • Allocate team resources via planning to fulfil project requirements.
  • Coordinate and ensure all sub-contractors are scheduled and performing.
  • Identify improvements which can be made.
  • Ensure cost effective purchase of materials and conformity of all materials to site specifications.
  • Ensure correct storage and protection of all issued materials and equipment until installation.
  • Assist in system handover.
  • Obtain approval for all works.
  • Liaise with the Client Representative and represent the company standards/ethos at all times.
  • Maintain client expectations at all times.
  • Ensure all extra works are captured.
  • Record and report all extra work.
  • Obtain client approval for all additional work prior to executing.
  • Liaise with the HR department on any team-based personnel issues.
  • Ensure any team disciplinary and grievance issues are dealt with.
  • Any other adhoc duties as assigned from time to time.

Qualifications / Skills Required

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role within an electrical contracting environment.
  • Must hold a valid Electrical Trade Certificate.
  • Safe pass.
  • Full clean driving licence.
  • Strong safety focus.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Proven capability in decision making.
  • Flexible, committed and work well under time pressure.
  • PC Skills – MS Word, Excel and Outlook.

Overall Role Objective

The Environmental, Health & Safety Advisor (EHS Advisor) is an integrated part of the Project Team and is responsible for providing specialist advise and support on all matters relating to the Environment, Health, Safety and Welfare of site personnel. The EHS Advisor will become a Subject Matter Expert on Suir’s Integrated Management System and ensure its effective implementation on site.

Key Responsibilities/Duties

  • Assist the EHS Manager in achieving Suir’s Critical Success Factor 1. ‘To ensure we are fully compliant in all Health, Safety & Workplace Legislation’
  • Work effectively with the Project Manager and Construction Team with the implementation of the Integrated Management System
  • Ensure the site is adequately set up with a Site-Specific Construction EHS Plan.
  • Become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in all of Suir’s Hight Risk Activities (HRA’s) and ensure that they are identified and effectively controlled on site.
  • Assist with the development of Risk Assessment & Method Statements
  • Assist with the development of SOP’s and provide training and communication to site personnel.
  • Become familiar with and promote the ‘Suir Way’ and its interfaces with Health & Safety.
  • Report and Investigate incidents when they occur and ensure root causes are identified, mitigated and communicated.
  • Communicate Safety Alerts through Toolbox Talk on a scheduled basis.
  • Ensure statutory forms and inspections are complete and recorded in a timely fashion.
  • Provide EHS project and documentation support.
  • Any other reasonable and relevant duties as requested by the EHS Manager, necessary to meet the ongoing needs of the company.

High Voltage (HV) Installation & Commissioning Supervisor

The High Voltage (HV) Installation & Commissioning Supervisor is responsible for supervision of the HV Installation Specialist Team and verification/testing of all aspects of HV substations and cable systems.

This role requires extensive national travel and occasional international travel.  The role can be based out of either the company Waterford or Dublin office.

Key Responsibilities/Duties

  • Coordinate, plan and deliver HV installation and commissioning projects.
  • Completion all safety requirements including compiling Risk Assessments and Method Statements and on-site risk assessments.
  • Supervision and guidance of the HV Specialist Installation Team.
  • Completion of Primary tests on Instrument transformers, Power Transformers and HV switchgear.
  • Functional verification of protection schemes.
  • Commissioning and functional verification of DC Battery systems including battery discharge testing.
  • Testing of protection relays.
  • Configuration of IEDs across a range of vendors such as Siemens, Schneider and ABB.
  • Operational switching of HV apparatus.
  • Pre-commissioning of ESB Substations.
  • Attendance at FATs for HV switchgear, transformers and protection cabinets.
  • Early engagement with project team to optimise design and minimise installation defects.
  • Assist the bid team with technical aspects of tendering.
  • Technical evaluation of HV apparatus at submittal stage.
  • Technical report writing.
  • Guide and mentor junior staff in their technical development.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Time served electrician or Electrical Technical/Engineer.
  • Safe pass.
  • Full clean driving licence.
  • Familiarity with some or all aspects of HV substations from 10kV to 220kV.
  • Have in depth knowledge of HV and MV switchgear across multiple vendor platforms.
  • Computer literate – Microsoft packages etc.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with ESBN “Conditions governing connections to the Distribution System”.
  • Familiarity with ESBN Pre-commissioning standards.
  • Comfortable with Omicron Primary test equipment used for testing instrument transformers and power transformers.
  • Familiar with protection relay test techniques and Omicron Test Universe.
  • Experienced with relay configuration tools such as Siemens Digsi, ABB PCM, Schneider Agile.
  • SAP with proven HV switching experience.
  • GWO trained.
  • HV cable testing including VLF testing.
  • SF6 gas handling and testing.
