Glanbia Project Topaz

Project Topaz consisted of a new 7.5t/hour drying process expansion of the Glanbia Ireland Belview facility, in order to increase capacity, a new third drier was added at the Belview plant.

The overall expansion project encompassed new:

  • Milk intakes;
  • Pasteurisers;
  • Evaporation facilities;
  • Drying facilities;
  • Bagging facilities

Suir Engineering’s scope of work included the complete electrical installation within the facility of the following systems:

Almarai Project Palm – Poultry Processing Plant, Ha’il

In 2009, Almarai, the world’s largest integrated food supplier, added poultry products to their portfolio through the acquisition of Hail Agricultural Development Company (HADCO). After investing in a world-class production facility, they launched the new premium poultry brand – Alyoum.

This project involved the building of a new poultry processing plant for Almarai in Ha’il. The output capacity of the facility is 2 x 12,000 birds per hour and consists of 16 weighing and packing lines. The entire installation is to food grade standard.

Suir Engineering’s scope of work involved design of electrical services, sub-mains cabling, lighting & general services installation, power distribution, external lighting, hook-up of process equipment, testing & commissioning.

United Fish Industries Killybegs Reconfiguration Project

An investment by United Fish Industries (UFI) and the Pelagia Group of €30 million has seen one of the iconic fish processing plants in Killybegs, Donegal being totally redeveloped and reconstructed into one of the most modern Marine Ingredient plants in the world.

The transformation of the plant was a unique complex design and build project as it essentially involved constructing a new factory on the existing site while maintaining production throughout the project.

The rebuilt and redesigned plant now houses state of the art steam generation, production processes, waste heat evaporative capacity, computer control systems and environmental control systems that enable it to process 1200 tonnes of fish per day.

Ornua Foods is responsible for the international marketing and sales of Ornua’s consumer products portfolio which includes the Kerrygold, Pilgrims Choice, Dubliner, Forto, Shannongold, BEO and Eureka! brands. Markets are served through wholly owned subsidiaries and in-market teams in China, Germany, the Middle East, the UK and the US.

Ornua Ingredients is responsible for the procurement of Irish dairy products and for the sale of dairy ingredients to end users. Operating out of Ireland, the division exports dairy ingredients to over 110 countries and is supported by key subsidiaries in Spain, Saudi Arabia, the UK and the US.

This project comprised of the construction of a new Kerrygold butter packing facility in Castlefarm, Mitchelstown County Cork. The new facility incorporates administration offices, changing areas, production and packaging/palletising areas, dry goods storage, goods in an out and a +4°C Cold Store.

Glanbia Ingredients Belview is the largest capital investment by an indigenous company in the Republic of Ireland and the facility caters for the increase in milk production in Ireland post the abolition of EU milk quotas, which occurred in April 2015.

This project involved the construction of a new Dairy Processing and Manufacturing Facility for the manufacturing and development of dairy projects in Kilkenny, Ireland. The facility is one of the most modern and largest facility of its kind in Europe.

The total building area of 24,597 sq. meters comprising of 2 story administration and laboratory building, a five-story production building with 4 flues, a raw material storage warehouse, a dairy ingredients intake building, a utility building, a 38kv substation, a tank farm, a waste water pre-treatment building with waste water neutralisation tanks.

Suir Engineering’s scope of work comprised the complete electrical installation within the facility.
