Project Description

Beacon Hospital was the first privately funded hospital to be built in Dublin in 22 years, built in conjunction with John Hopkins International and Triad hospitals. The 238,000 sq ft, nine-floor Beacon Hospital, provides world-class acute care services, including heart surgery, neuro-surgery, and emergency medicine services. There is also an oncology day treatment centre along with therapeutic radiography services. Total construction value was approximately €183,000,000.

UPMC Beacon Hospital is operated by UPMC (University of Pittsburgh Medical Center).The hospital combines the best in Irish and US healthcare. As the showcase site for General Electric in Europe, it has the most up to date radiology systems, including MRI, CT scanner with cardiac capabilities, CT Sim, and PET/CT.

It also features digital radiology suites with advanced mammography, nuclear medicine, and ultrasound, as well as angiography suites and lab with advanced single- plane and bi-plane systems and flouroscopy. Treatment facilities in UPMC Beacon include 8 operating theatres with dedicated rooms for neurosurgery, urology, cardiac, general, orthopaedic and ophthalmic surgery.

Project Description

Part of a €55m investment in palliative care and services for the elderly in Cork, this a new unique world-class facility embodying the best principles of palliative and elderly care. Built on a greenfield site, it co-located with a registered monument ring fort and beside a major road and Seveso zone on the edge of Cork City.

The building accommodates 144 patients around a central atrium with synergies with an academic teaching facility, administration and patient/family hostel

The Mater Private Hospital is the first new hospital in Cork in 30 years. It was designed to facilitate the most sophisticated surgical procedures, and efficient processing of patient information. The Mater Private is a 5 star facility with 73 single inpatient rooms, fully sealed with the most up to date technology in infection control. The new private hospital is situated at the City Gate Development in Mahon, Cork.

Suir Engineering was responsible for the complete electrical and mechanical installation works, which included HV & MV services, standby generator, UPS, general services, IT systems, security systems, protective services, mechanical controls systems, LPHW, CHW, HVAC, water treatment systems, medical gasses, process cooling, BMS and environmental monitoring systems
