Project Description

EirGen Pharma is a pharmaceutical company based in Waterford, Ireland. The company specialises in the development, registration and manufacture of high potency solid dose products for global markets. EirGen Pharma offers a unique range of pharmaceutical development services for new active substances, generics and upgrades of existing formulations.

This project involved a new state of the art GMP high containment facility, equipped to develop and manufacture solid dosage forms using innovative isolation technology to allow handling of high potency or moisture sensitive products in an environment which is safe to both the user and the product.

Our work on the expansion involved the fit-out of existing units adjacent to the current facility, internal modifications to the existing facility, and the construction of a new circulation corridor, 2-storey reception buildings and substation. The project also involved the upgrading of existing services and provision of new services where required.

Suir Engineering Ltd. were engaged by EirGen Pharma to carry out design and build of the facility expansion.

Project Description

Johnson & Johnson Vision Care is a world-leading healthcare corporation. Vistakon is continuously expanding its State-of-the-art manufacturing operation in Limerick, Ireland where it produces ACUVUE and other market-leading disposable contact lenses for the European and Asian market.

Suir Engineering have been on site in Johnson & Johnson Vision Care since 1996. Since then we have successfully completed electrical projects ranging in value from hundreds of thousands to multi millions.

West Pharmaceutical Products Ireland Limited is a manufacturer of components and systems for the packaging and delivery of injectable drugs as well as delivery systems components for the pharmaceutical, healthcare and consumer projects industries. This development is a circa 28,500m2 pharmaceutical plant includes manufacturing for drug administration components and systems for the pharmaceutical, healthcare and consumer products industries. Warehousing, administrative, technical and utility support functions will also be provided for within the building.

Suir Engineering were responsible for the complete mechanical installation works, which included taking the preliminary design created by Arup, developing this design with the client and the project team and producing a detailed design suitable for construction using BIM.

In May 2001, Genzyme Corporation announced the establishment of a new manufacturing facility on a 31 acre site in Waterford. Since then Sanofi has gone on to establish a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility and is one of the largest employers in the South East.

Suir Engineering has been responsible for various electrical and mechanical projects in Sanofi since 2001, works carried out include: Electrical and mechanical installation works, which included high & medium voltage services, standby generator, UPS, general services, IT systems, security systems, protective services, mechanical control systems, LPHW, CHW, HVAC, water treatment systems, medical gasses, process cooling, BMS and environmental monitoring system.

Jazz Pharmaceuticals Ireland Ltd – Project Rock

Construction of Jazz Pharmaceuticals Ireland Ltd

The Jazz Pharmaceuticals Ireland Limited (JPIL) development is on a 17.5 acre greenfield site located in Monksland, Athlone, Co. Roscommon.  The development is a state-of-the-art pharmaceutical fill finish facility on a green site. Works were completed by 2016 with Jazz Pharmaceuticals investing approximately €45 – €50 million in construction, development and personnel costs to build and open the facility. It comprises of 5,150m2 of building floor space.

Suir Engineering was responsible for the complete electrical installation works, which included HV & MV services, standby generator, UPS, general services, IT systems, security systems, protective services, mechanical wiring, testing & commissioning.

Merck Millipore Membrane R&D Facility

Merck Millipore has built a new filter membrane manufacturing facility at their Carrigtwohill site in Cork, Ireland. The project known as Membrane Pilot R&D project, relocated its production capacity from their Bedford, MA Site in the US to the Carrigtwohill site. The facility is now used for R&D activities previously carried out at the Bedford Plant. The facility is based on existing technology in use in the Carrigtwohill plant and also on technology and experience from the plant in Bedford.
