New Sustainability Committee at Suir Engineering

New Sustainability Committee at Suir Engineering

The Suir Engineering Sustainability Committee is responsible for overseeing and monitoring the development of sustainability strategies and supporting initiatives across the business, addressing key environmental, social, and governance (ESG) impacts, risks, and opportunities. The committee will ensure compliance with relevant regulations, such as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the EU Taxonomy. By leveraging diverse expertise, the committee will guide and approve corporate targets and KPIs, ensuring that sustainability is fully integrated into the broader business strategy. Additionally, it will serve as a focal point for engaging with stakeholders on sustainability across the value chain.

The Sustainability Committee’s main purpose is to provide oversight, guidance, and strategic direction to ensure the company not only complies with legislation and reporting requirements but also proactively integrates sustainability into its core business operations and strategy for long-term value creation.

The role of the committee will evolve as Suir Engineering’s sustainability strategy grows and becomes embedded into business as usual. The initial outcomes for the next 12 months can be summarised as follows:

  • Conduct a Double Materiality Assessment and agree on a CSRD action plan, outlining the most material issues to the business that will shape the sustainability strategy and future roadmap.
  • Assess the current and potential sustainability impacts, risks, and opportunities of priority sustainability topics- to include any emerging topics.
  • Understand which issues may increase or decrease in importance over a longer period (5–10 years).
  • Provide feedback and guidance on Suir Engineering’s sustainability strategy as it is being developed and implemented
