The building accommodates 144 patients around a central atrium with synergies with an academic teaching facility, administration and patient/family hostel

The Mater Private Hospital is the first new hospital in Cork in 30 years. It was designed to facilitate the most sophisticated surgical procedures, and efficient processing of patient information. The Mater Private is a 5 star facility with 73 single inpatient rooms, fully sealed with the most up to date technology in infection control. The new private hospital is situated at the City Gate Development in Mahon, Cork.

Suir Engineering was responsible for the complete electrical and mechanical installation works, which included HV & MV services, standby generator, UPS, general services, IT systems, security systems, protective services, mechanical controls systems, LPHW, CHW, HVAC, water treatment systems, medical gasses, process cooling, BMS and environmental monitoring systems

Almarai Project Palm – Poultry Processing Plant, Ha’il

Project Description

In 2009, Almarai, the world’s largest integrated food supplier, added poultry products to their portfolio through the acquisition of Hail Agricultural Development Company (HADCO). After investing in a world-class production facility, they launched the new premium poultry brand – Alyoum.

This project involved the building of a new poultry processing plant for Almarai in Ha’il. The output capacity of the facility is 2 x 12,000 birds per hour and consists of 16 weighing and packing lines. The entire installation is to food grade standard.

United Fish Industries Killybegs Reconfiguration Project

Project Description

An investment by United Fish Industries (UFI) and the Pelagia Group of €30 million has seen one of the iconic fish processing plants in Killybegs, Donegal being totally redeveloped and reconstructed into one of the most modern Marine Ingredient plants in the world.

The transformation of the plant was a unique complex design and build project as it essentially involved constructing a new factory on the existing site while maintaining production throughout the project.

The rebuilt and redesigned plant now houses state of the art steam generation, production processes, waste heat evaporative capacity, computer control systems and environmental control systems that enable it to process 1200 tonnes of fish per day. Suir Engineering provided the project with complete mechanical installation services.

Project Description

The wind farm is a 35 turbine project in Co. Cork developed by Bord Gais Energy through its subsidiary, SWS Knockacummer Wind Farm Limited. The works included 110kV substation civil works and associated 20kV civil and electrical substation works including 110/20kV transformer installation works.

The turbines installed on the wind farm site were 2.5MW resulting in an installed capacity of 87.5MW. The wind farm was connected to the national grid at 110kV via a 110/20kV grid connection transformer.

  • The works included the design, procurement, supply, installation, pre-commissioning, (where applicable) and testing of works.
  • As this was a sensitive site in terms of environment and archaeology, practible steps were taken including environment and archaeological studies, prior to commencement along with constant monitoring during constructionto prevent any damage to the site.

Tees Valley 2 Renewable Energy Facility

Project Description

Tees Valley 2 (TV2) is Air Products’ second renewable energy-from-waste (EFW) facility in the Tees Valley, located on land adjacent to TV1. TV2 is based on the same advanced plasma gasification technology and TV1 will have a similar generating capacity.

  • Capacity of 49.9MW of renewable electricity generation. 
  • Generates electricity equivalent to the needs of up to 50,000 homes. 
  • Up to 350,000 tonnes of non-recyclable residual waste diverted from landfill.
  • Alongside Tees Valley 1, it’s the largest energy plant of it’s type to be built in the UK.
